Court Fines Airtel N15Million For Breaching Customer’s Right To Privacy

Justice Jude Okeke of an FCT high court Maitama on Wednesday slammed a fine of N5m Airtel Nig. Ltd for violation of customer’s right to privacy.

The plaintiff, Mr. Emmanuel Anene, on December 21 filed a suit against Airtel for continues disturbances through unsolicited messages to his line.

In summary, Okeke claimed that Airtel continually disturbed his line with a service he did not subscribe for and he kept notifying their customer service about the due disturbance but nothing was done about the situation which made him take legal action when things were becoming unbearable.
