Emily Macdonagh Defends Why She Married Her Husaband Despite A 17-Year Age Gap

Before she met Peter Andre , Emily MacDonagh was just a normal young woman, studying to become a doctor. Two years later, she’s doing magazine shoots and struggling with trolls attacking everything, from her looks to her marriage.

The 27-year-old has spoken out for the first time in an interview with OK! magazine, about her problems with fame and the abuse she and husband Pete, 44, receive over their 17-year age gap.

“The downside [of fame] is people being nasty,” she says. “In the past I've read people criticising me and Pete, whether it’s the age difference or our appearance, and I find it hard when people say I’m too young to be with him, my skin is not thick enough and I find it very upsetting.”


In fact, it’s the whole reason the mum to Amelia, three, and Theo, five months, refuses to use social media. She says: “I don’t have social media because otherwise you’re opening yourself up to that criticism... you don’t want to think your kids are reading negative things.”

She also defended her husband’s age, saying, “He’s in his forties and he looks great. He still comes home to me and gives me cuddles.”
