A suspected battery thief was yesterday at Akai Effa, Calabar almost burnt to death after he was caught trying to steal twice within two days. He had reportedly been seen a day earlier trying to steal at a particular spot but escaped when given a chase. He however returned the following day, not to that particular spot but somewhere close and he was nabbed this time. Residents and onlookers gathered and dealt with him and almost burnt him alive, but security operatives were fast to come to his rescue. They however stripped him, beat him blue-black before the arrival of the officers who whisked him away. Another photo below...
