An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded in prison a 19-year-old Oladosun Sodiq over alleged defilement.
The accused, whose address was not provided, is being tried for defilement.
The prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the Court that the accused committed the offence on September 15 in Ijero-Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that the accused defiled a 9-year-old girl (name withheld).
He said the offence contravened Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The prosecutor urged the Court to remand the accused in prison pending legal advice from office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the accused was not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison custody, pending the issuance of legal advice.
Adegboye adjourned the case until October 10 for mention.
