Kaduna govt extends maternity leave to 6 months

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has revealed that female civil servants in Kaduna State would now enjoy six months of maternity leave.

El-Rufai wrote on twitter, “I am pleased to announce that just yesterday, our State Executive Council approved six months maternity leave for our female public servants.” He added that the prolonged maternity leave would encourage the healthy development of babies.

“This encourages the healthy development of infants through prolonged breastfeeding, among other benefits,” he stated. El-Rufai was sworn into office for a second term on Wednesday, alongside his new deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe.
