Convener of Concerned Nigerians, and human rights activist, Prince Deji Adeyanju has submitted a petition to the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) against a lawyer, Kenechukwu Okeke for “acts unbecoming of a legal practitioner”.
The petition dated November 11, 2020, was also supported by an affidavit filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Abuja.
Okeke on Tuesday dragged Singers, Davido, Falz and Burna Boy; Pastor Sam Adeyemi and 46 others before a Chief Magistrate’s court in Abuja over their roles in #EndSARS protest which he claimed led to the destruction of his properties.
According to him, his propeties were destroyed in the aftermath of #EndSARS protest, saying that the promoters of the protest must be brought to justice.
In the case instituted on Monday pursuant to sections 88, 109(a), 110(1)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, Okeke listed prominent persons including entertainers and social media influencers as the defendants.
Others include social media comedians, Debo Adebayo (Mr Macaroni), Maryam Akpaokagi (Taooma) as well as Senior Pastor, Daystar Christian Centre, Pastor Sam Adeyemi; activist, Aisha Yesufu; ex-Super Eagles legend, Kanu Nwankwo; a former Director-General, Bureau for Public Sector Reform, Dr Joe Abah; journalist, Kiki Mordi, and actors, Yul Edochie and Uche Jombo.

Feyikemi Abudu, Olorunrinu Oduala, Pamilerin Adegoke, Japhet Omojuwa, Ayo Sogunro and Deji Adeyanju were also joined in the suit.
Adeyanju alleged that Okeke conducted himself in an infamous manner contrary to the provisions of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners.
Following Adeyanju’s petition, the LPDC said;
Okeke of Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja, is required to answer to the allegations contained in the statement/affidavit which accompanies this application and that such order be made as the committee shall think right.
If found guilty, the LPDC may suspend the lawyer from the bar for at least one year.
