Hamilton is now the most decorated racer the sport has ever seen – with more wins (94), more poles (97) and more podiums (163) than any driver who has gone before.

The 35-year-old delivered what has been described as his best display of the season as he won a dramatic Turkish Grand Prix.

Hamilton speaking with Sky Sports after the race said;

I’m definitely a bit lost for words. It’s so important for kids out there to hopefully see this and to know. Don’t listen to anybody who tells you you can’t achieve something.

Dream the impossible, speak it into existence, and you’ve got to work for it, you’ve got to chase it and you’ve got to never give up. Never doubt yourself.

Schumacher won his seventh title at the Belgian Grand Prix in 2004 and many thought the record would stand the test of time.

However, Hamilton has matched the German with his sixth championship in seven years.

He claimed his 10th win from 14 rounds on Saturday and was running in fifth for much of an eventful race. However, he used all of his experience to make his intermediate tyres last for 50 of the 58 laps.

Hamilton took the chequered flag 31.6 seconds clear of Sergio Perez, with Sebastian Vettel third and Charles Leclerc coming fourth.

Valtteri Bottas, the only man who could have prevented Hamilton from clinching the win ended at 14th position.

Congratulations to him!
