Eight members of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) were kidnapped in Kaduna Friday evening, it has emerged.
The gunmen are suspected to be bandits who have been terrorizing the Northwest region.
Head, Media and Public Relations of the RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, confirmed the incidence to journalists.
Also confirming the incident, Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State, Rev (Dr) John Joseph Hayab, the members were taken away near Doka along the Kachia-Kafanchan Highway on Friday evening.
He said he got the information earlier when an unknown number called him on Friday, adding that he was made to understand that more than eight worshippers were abducted by the gunmen.
The captives, from Kaduna Province 1, were reportedly going to Kafanchan for a church activity.
In a Facebook post, one Eje Kenny Faraday shared the photo of the empty RCCG vehicle and wrote; “All passengers in the bus are just kidnapped along Kachia Road, Km 63 from Kaduna”.
The inscription on the bus reads, “The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 30, Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna.”
The actual number of the victims was yet to be known as Kaduna state police command was yet to release a statement about the incident.
