Warri Agog With Excitement As Coronation Of 21st Olu Of Warri CommencesCeremony for the coronation of Omoba Utieyinoritsetsola Emiko as the 21st Olu of Warri has on Saturday, August 21 commenced in earnest.

Subjects and well wishes treated the Olu of Warri designate to traditional ordinances as he makes his way to the venue of the ceremony.

The coronation comes after the Olu designate completed the traditional 90 days Isolation period (Idaniken) yesterday with a long procession through some roads in his kingdom, thus preparing him for his coronation today, Saturday as the 21st Olu of Warri.

He was accompanied by thousands of Itsekiri sons and daughters on the procession.

Shouts of “May your reign be fruitful”, “May your reign take the kingdom to greater heights”, “May your reign bring greater glory to Warri kingdom and the Niger Delta” rend the air loud as the procession continued.

Omoba Emiko proceeded into the traditional Isolation period in May, shortly after rites of passage for the late monarch, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, held at the Royal cemetery in Jalla, Warri South Local Government Area.

It would be recalled that Emiko Tsola was announced as the successor to the late Olu Ogiame Ikenwoli in April.

To make the announcement, the Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Johnson Atseruleghe symbolically broke three earthen pots containing white native chalk on the floor, followed by twenty cannon shots.

After ending the period of seclusion, Omoba Emiko, in company of his wife and some family members, attended a Praise and Worship session (one of the programmes lined up before the coronation)  at Warri Boatyard close to Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Warri-Sapele Road, Warri south local government.

His wife, Mrs Emiko, mother-in-law, Mrs Evelyn Okunbo were among relatives who came with him for the Praise and Worship programme.

Some notable gospel musicians were on ground to minister in songs. The Olu Designate and his wife stood up to dance to some of the gospel songs rendered in Itsekiri

Prayers were offered for Itsekiri nation, Niger Delta and Nigeria.

There was heavy security presence around the venue of the event. The coronation programme will hold today, beginning with a Boat Regatta on Warri River.

He will later head to Ode Itsekiri, ancestral home of Itsekiri nation for the coronation proper.

Born on April 2, 1984, to Prince Godwin Toritseju Emiko, late Ogiame Atuwatse II and Gladys Durorike Emiko in Warri, the 37-year-old Olu designate is a descendant of Olu Akengbuwa.

The Olu designate, 37, is a serial entrepreneur. He is the founder of Noble Energy and Corral Curators.

He is also the chairman, Ocean Marine Security and Director, Gulf of Guinea Limited, as well as Vessellink Nigeria Limited.

Prince Tsola Emiko is a loving and caring husband to Ivie Uhunoma Emiko, daughter of popular Edo business mogul, late Idahosa Okunbo.

The couple has three children: Oritsetsemiaye, Oritsetemisan, and Oritsetimeyin.
