Jigawa State High Court sitting in Kazaure has on Thursday sentenced a 70-year-old man, Alto Ado, to life imprisonment for defiling three girls.
The accused was arrested on 14th October 2020 for allegedly luring two minors aged seven and nine into an uncompleted building in Kazaure town and forcefully having unlawful sexual intercourse with them.
The defendant, who was a watchman, was later arrested and charged to court with rape.
The prosecution in proving the case presented five witnesses to testify against the suspect.
Presiding Judge, Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu said rape is punishable under Section 3 of the Penal Code (Miscellaneous Amendment) Law, 2014.
The judge, while delivering the judgment, said the evidence presented by the prosecution counsel proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Ado was therefore sentenced to life imprisonment.
