The Headies 2015 committee has released its nominations list for the year in review featuring songs released from July 2014 to June 2015, and the nominees list has some categories tipped in favor of the artistes in the X3M Music Record Label – R&B singers Praiz and Simi.
The two acts have a combined 9 nominations with Praiz listed under 8 categories for efforts on solo tracks as well as collaborated features. Praiz is listed for BEST R&B/POP ALBUM by a single individual or group as well as HIP HOP WORLD REVELATION – a voting category for the best new artiste in the year for the track “Rich & Famous”. Praiz is also nominated in the BEST COLLABO category for “Sisi” featuring Wizkid, BEST R&B SINGLE for the track “Heartbeat”, and BEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE (MALE); A non-voting category for the single male artiste with the most outstanding vocal performance on a single song or album.
Label mate and rising R&B songstress Simi is listed under the female category of the BEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE for her song “Tiff”, which is also nominated for BEST ‘ALTERNATIVE’ SONG being credited to the artiste whose songs reflect any form or style of music which falls outside the mainstream of recent or past popular musical trends. Simi’s video for the popular hit track “Jamb Question” is also nominated in the BEST MUSIC VIDEO category, with credits to the Director Mex for concept and exciting visuals.
The biggest category of the awards ALBUM OF THE YEAR which rewards artistes’ that meets judges requirements of excellence in songwriting, production, rendition and promotion, alongside acceptability measured by sales and popularity has Praiz listed for his efforts in the hit single “Rich n Famous”.
