The 6th edition of Kaduna State Sports Festival earlier scheduled for February 24th will kick-start today, the State Commissioner of Sports Development, Kabir Mato stated at the weekend.
Mato said the festival which is the first in 10 years was postponed from February 24th to March 2nd due to technical issues but assured that all arrangements have been completed to ensure its success.
Mato in a press briefing where he was represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Ismaila Lere, disclosed that the weeklong festival will feature wild cards to attract athletes from other parts of the country and expand the entry scope of the games while expecting over 2000 athletes and officials.
“To give the competition a wider scope, this time around we are improvising with wild cards entries for those coming from outside the 23 local government areas of the state,” he stated.
Mato said athletes will compete in 16 events like football, basketball handball, cycling, and swimming. // <\/s'+'cript>'); // --> //]]> From ICE
