Federal High Court in Abuja has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to unfreeze bank accounts of 20 #EndSARS protesters it took control of since last year.
It would be recalled that CBN last November approached the court and obtained an order to freeze the accounts of #EndSARS protesters persons who received donations to support the protest for 180 days.

It would be recalled that CBN obtained the initial court order by alleging that the accounts were linked to suspected terrorism activities, an allegation which has been denied by those affected.

At the hearing of the case on Wednesday morning, Justice Ahmed Mohammed proceeded to strike out the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1384/2020 filed by Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and in respect of which the ex-parte order freezing the accounts for 180 days was made on November 4, 2020.
The court’s decision was informed by the withdrawal of all processes filed in relation to the suit by lawyer to CBN and the legal representative of the protesters.
Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), appeared for the CBN Governor and Femi Falana (SAN), appeared for those affected by the freezing order.
They both told the court, at the commencement of proceedings, that they have resolved to withdraw all the processes filed for peace to reign and for the ongoing process of reconciliation, at the various panels of enquiry on police brutality across the country, to progress unhindered.
