Department of State Services has arrested eight prime suspects linked to the rape and murder of Olajide Blessing, a 300-level agricultural science of University of Ilorin, Kwara state.
It would recalled that on June 1, Blessing was found dead with her mother gagged and hands tied to her back after being brutally raped by unknown persons at her sister’s residence in Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
The deceased was a student of Agricultural Science Department from Oke-Opin community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Spokesperson of State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident, adding that corpse was deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) for autopsy.

Olajide’s death sparked protests by many civil society organizations across the country who demanded for justice.
According to ThePunch, sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity on Monday said the DSS had arrested the perpetrators.
As at the time of filing this report, both the state spokesperson for DSS, as well as the national public relations officer were yet to announce the arrest.
However, Kwara State Director of Public Prosecution, Mumini Jimoh, confirmed that some suspects had been arrested over the crime and would be arraigned before Justice I.A. Jusuf on Wednesday, June 30.
