Miss Africa Russia pageantry was held on Sunday June 13, and one of the highlights of the event was when Nigeria’s representative, Udeh Chiamaka Victoria stepped out with a bloodstained Nigerian flag.
At the event which was held in Moscow, Miss Udeh walked with a blood stained flag which gained prominence after the alleged shooting at Lekki Toll Gate during #EndSARS protest.
At the peak of protest against since-disbanded Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), soldiers attacked peaceful protesters at Lekki tollgate.
Although the Federal and state government as well as the military have not admitted to the death of protesters at Lekki toll gate, several persons were reported dead or missing after the military attack of many protesters at the largest point of the protest in Lagos state.
Since the heavily condemned incident, there has been conflicting information about the details of the event including the identity of the shooters.
Eyewitnesses’ accounts through videos and images shared online showed that men dressed in army uniform were at the scene of the increment and were the shooters.
However, Defence Headquarters spokesman, John Enenche denied both allegations, saying the videos may have been ‘photoshopped’.
In another conflicting account, Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu during an interview with CNN reporter, Becky Anderson, admitted that soldiers were at the tollgate on Tuesday.
However, a expert pathologist, Mr John Obafunwa claimed at least 3 people were killed by soldiers that night with several others injured.
He made this known before Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry while presented photos of 99 dead bodies of #EndSARS protesters in the state.
Photos presented to the audience via a display unit indicated that some of the bodies had bruises while others had deep cuts resulting from machete attack or high caliber gunshot wounds.
Three of the bodies were confirmed to be from Lekki tollgate where soldiers opened gunfire on the protesters, shortly after Sanwo-Olu announced a 24-hour curfew in the state.
